The Art of Rejection

I’ve decided to consolidate more of my posts on my website here and away from my old blogger site. This one overlaps on both, so if you’ve been to the wordsandcoffeewriting.blogspot.com, you may have seen that there as well. I’m going to try more posts in this vlog format this summer, and my goal is to post something new each week. I hope you enjoy your walks with me!

  1. I don’t believe I’ve heard your voice before, and it’s so cool to find this and slowly complete the puzzle pieces of you behind the other end of the screen. That’s a great trail to walk, and yes, I always think about the greats that were rejected tons of times, and I connect this saying with martial arts to it: “A black belt is just a white belt who didn’t quit.”

We often think that we need to be someone special so reach the pinnacle of a certain pursuit, but mostly it’s just a bunch of fumbling around until we one day find ourselves ahead of the pack.

    Anyway, thanks for this, Sarah!

    1. Thank you! That saying about martial arts is an excellent comparison; we just keep trying and growing every day! I’m surprised to see that this video is over a year old already, hah, I’ve had so many more literary rejections since then. I should do an Art of Rejection, Part 2: Still Walking and Still Querying. 😀
