Changing Seasons

Fronds lifting skyward,

embracing like friends,

singing soft through pale wind,

as the summer sun ends.

I told my husband that every time I put too much on my plate, writing inevitably falls to the back burner. And, of course, it’s happened again with the new job and a fresh list of to-dos at the start of the school year. I recognize this pattern: work and other commitments overstep their boundaries, and my writing fizzles out. It is a process sort of like the tides, though, and I take comfort in knowing that what is dragged out to sea is often tossed back to shore– even if it’s in a different form.

So, alas, in this busy season I may not be as active on WordPress as I’d liked to be, but I’ll be back with a renewed vigor for writing when the semester winds down. In the meantime, I hope I can drop in at least once a week to join a prompt or two and read from all the wonderful poets and other bloggers I’ve come to follow on here. I’ve been lucky to spend much time on here this spring and summer taking it all in, but now we’re changing seasons once again. Take care, everyone!

  1. I can totally relate to this post. ‘writing fizzles out’, ya. Life gets too busy at times. But there will be quiet again. Sometimes I think writing is tidal, and that both ebb and flow play an important part. I love reading your pieces and will look forward to whatever your busy life allows you to create. Take care. 💜
