My short story “Heartbeats of Chemo” was published in Elephants and Tea this week! You can check it out here.
One of the main reasons I enjoy sharing stories about my cancer journey is because I believe they’re relatable in other ways. Yes, this particular story is about an appointment I had in March of 2020 to receive my first echocardiogram, but it is also a tale about a Midwestern hospital at the start of the pandemic and the ways we connect to others and the wonder of our hearts.
I celebrated with an upgrade to the blog. You’re obviously here already, but I now exist at wordsandcoffeewriting.com, which is pretty stinking cool. I hope you enjoy the now ad-free formatting. I will probably have to figure out what else, if anything, I can or should change. WordPress gurus, let me know if you have suggestions, and thank you, everybody, as always for reading.
Congrats on getting your story published 👏❤

Congratulations on getting your story published ! Wow when I read your most recent post about thinking no one was around that sounds frightening. I can’t even imagine what you must have felt.

Thank you for reading! Every day was so weird at that time in 2020 that I think the weirdness stopped surprising me at some point. It makes it easier to go with the flow these days. 😀

A wonderful story–congratulations! The pandemic changed everything. Forever, I fear. But you have made it through to the other side, and that’s what counts. (K)

Awesome stuff on both the publication and upgrading your blog! I’ve existed on the cheapest plan forever, and having your own domain plus an ad-free experience are the most valuable things you can pay for, in my opinion.
Also, great on you for sharing your unique path in life. Your cancer journey is yours to share, and nobody else can do it as well as you, so I’m glad you’re being generous with it! Keep on keeping on!

Thanks! I am liking the cheap plan so far; my layout looks generally nicer when I log in now 😀 Now, I probably have to make some other adjustments to keep the site spiffy.
