Encore

spring dances again
comfort in renewal
buds billowing
bees hovering
birds trilling
sky shimmering
nature is reborn
solace blooms
~gratitude~
blooms solace
reborn is nature
shimmering sky
trilling birds
hovering bees
billowing buds
renewal in comfort
again, dances spring

I wrote this poem for the Wea’ve Written Weekly poetry prompt. This week’s challenge comes from Punam who asks us to do the following:

  • Compose a palindrome poem on any theme;
    • Feeling ambitious? Compose your poem on the theme of ‘gratitude’.

The palindrome poem looked incredibly challenging to me when I first saw it! Still, I decided to give it a shot. How badly could I mess it up, truly? 😅 (Full disclosure: it took a few tries to create this poem.)

I thought the “gratitude” theme fit well with the photo (above) that I took last week of the new buds on our crab apple tree. I also snapped a few photos of our lovely plum tree at the right, too. Spring’s new growth is something I am always thankful for. Does anyone else creep around in their yard taking photos of the new blossoms or is it just me? 😬

  1. Sarah, what lovely photos! If I had such lovely buds blossoming in my yard, I guess, I would be creeping too click them.

What a lovely spring palindrome and definitely something to be grateful for and I love the opening/closing line.

    Thanks for joining in. ❤️

  2. What a beautiful spring poem, that emphasizes all that is wonderful about spring. I creep around taking photos, too, of blossoming trees and flowers. It is a practice that’s been going on since March 2020, walking around the neighborhood enjoying the change in the seasons. ~Nan

  3. There was a photographer in the Cleveland, Ohio area who took the same photo every day for a year. If I recall correctly, it was of Lake Erie, and the photographer had all of them put together, row after row of them, for a photo montage. I always thought that it was a cool idea that something was the same and yet different, depending..on the season, weather, etc. ~Nan
