Tour Guide

Take the trail that’s
Rarely comfortable
A meandering footpath
Newly discoverable
Soon we’re lost
Following the tangible
Or we’re trail-crossed
Rambling irrefragable
Make a choice first
And commit to inevitable
Tangling words cursed
Inside poetry infrangible
Open the world’s thirst
Noble and intangible

I wrote this poem for the Wea’ve Written Weekly prompt #156. This week’s prompt is from Carol Anne, who asks us to do the following:

This week, write an acrostic poem using the word transformation. In an acrostic, the first letter of each line spells out a word or phrase—vertically down the left margin.

Each line should relate to the theme of transformation in some way: personal, spiritual, political, emotional, seasonal—whatever resonates with you. There’s no set meter or rhyme scheme, but thoughtful structure is always welcome. Let the word unfold into a poem.
