Lifting the smooth paddle skyward
We dodge droplets and flow forward
Frigid lake can’t suppress my grin
Waves that buckle and bend with wind
Lighthouse rises atop cliff peak
Of storm-tossed ships its walls will speak
Water rages, the bow ascends
Waves that buckle and bend with wind
I’m not typically drawn to poetry with a refrain, but I thought I would try writing a Kyrielle poem today for Muri’s #NaPoWriMo scavenger hunt. My family and I lived along the shores of Lake Superior (or “Gichigami” in Ojibwe) for two years, and my hope was to bring the song and dance of those frigid waves to life in this poem.
You’ve certainly brought the dancing, frigid waves to life. I love this! 💕🙂

Love the refrain! Such a great line!! I live just south of the Michigan state line so do a lot of geocaching in Pure Michigan!! It really is a wonderful state with some very beautiful areas!
