Maybe some sovereign ellipses,
bracketing the earth’s brilliance,
mounting unlimited power.
Maybe Ares’ spear and shield,
his rights chariot-ridden through clouds
under his father’s thunderbolts.
Maybe drops of ice crystals,
floating suspended in the sky,
whispering back to trace damp earth.
Today, I’m participating in David’s W3 prompt over at the Skeptic’s Kaddish. Today’s prompt poem was “Thunderstorm Magic” by Gypsie-Ami, and here were Ami’s prompt guidelines:
- Your poem must include both of the two following words:
- ‘sovereign’
- ‘rights’
I have been thinking a lot lately about the way we see the world from so many unique perspectives, and how this can lead to disagreements but also, if we’re brave, growth. I guess it also led me to this little poem. I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday with beautiful shades of gray. 🙂
the world today oh hey

there’s something about the last line that makes me think about how the earth can take whatever the heavens send at it… I like your imagery a LOT, Sarah.

Hi Sarah,
This reminds me of a Shakespearean sonnet with the love interest being Mother Earth. Very nicely done! 😊
