Today’s #TankaTuesday Challenge asks writers to reflect on the theme “useful”. Dandelions may have a bad reputation, but they always remind me of a quiet, dependable friend: returning loyally to familiar places, sharing memories, smiling brightly, simply present in the moment. Okay, maybe I give these fluffy buggers too much credit, but IDK, I think they’re cool. Our yard is absolutely full of their sunny tops this week, and the boys love picking them and creating little “bouquets”. And, yes, our house is frequently decorated with these weedy bouquets in the springtime.
Oh, I love this, Sarah! 💕🙂

I love dandelions too. Ours is the garden with dandelions all over the lawn. They’re such a joyful, hopeful, sunny flower.

That’s beautiful, Sarah! I find it humorous that people think of weeds as a nuisance when Mother Nature makes them so pretty. Great poem! 🙂

What a lovely lighthearted tanka, Sarah. I can just see your little ones out there picking dandelions to bring to their mom. Thanks for the lovely memories of my own children doing the same thing. ❤
